So the redesign continues…albeit slowly. I do little bits here and there.
But I wanted to give credit where credit is due.
Theme:
The theme I am using here is “Resolution“, created by Fearless Flyer. I’m making edits as I go along, so I’m sure he wont even want to lay claim to this when I am done, but its a great theme, so I wanted to send him props. I’m slowly darkening the theme to have it suit my style a bit more.
A friend at work lamented ready made themes, because the one we got for our corporate blog is such a pain to work with…and we paid money for it! But, TBH I think free themes, like the ones built by Fearless Flyer, are the best. I’ve never had an issue. Knock on wood.
Fonts:
Typically, I hate any site that uses more than 2 fonts…but I’m breaking my own rule here. With the rise of web fonts, and the acceptance of the @font function in CSS, I couldnt resist!
For my headlines I am using “Chunk Five Roman“, which is one of the fonts that was specified in the original theme. It’s frankly too good a slab font to change.
I switched the body copy to “Sansation“, because I wanted a good sans serif font, but also something with a little character. I simply love the way this font draws a lower-case “k”.
The original theme lists “Bebas Neue” as the subhead font (you can see it in the titles in the sidebar on the homepage). I haven’t decided if I’m keeping it or not.
All of these fonts are available via Font Squirrel.
While I do all of this, I am of course playing around with new plug-ins. You never know when some new upstart will kick the butt of the plug-in you’ve been using forever.
Stay tuned…there are more edits in the mix!
